M.A. Degree in Literature:
The MA program in literature includes western literature of all periods, with a focus on English and American texts. The intercultural and interdisciplinary contexts of the works are examined through a variety of theoretical and methodological perspectives (e.g., cultural studies, new historicism, feminism, cultural Zionism, Marxism, postcolonial theory, reception theory).
We offer two tracks: a thesis track, and a general (non-thesis) track with a qualifying exam. In both tracks, the program of study combines three foci: literary theory; interdisciplinary approaches to literature; and authors, genres, and the literary tradition. In their first year, all students are required to take the Methodology, Theory, and Criticism in Literary Studies class. Stipends, awards, and fellowships are available on a competitive basis.
